Military Reserve Retirement 1.28

Easily calculate the expected retirement pay and Survivor Benefits Program (SBP) deductions for members of the US military reserve and guard. This tool is designed primarily for drilling reserve and guard service members, but individuals in the transition phase can also utilize it.

Once the user enters the relevant information, the tool will determine the monthly retirement pay for the first year of retirement and calculate the SBP premium. Users also have the option to receive an email with all the details.

Assumptions:

• The service member falls under the High-3 Retirement System (Service Entry Date >= 08SEP1980).
• The service member will remain at the inputted pay grade for the last three years before retirement.
• The service member will transfer to the retired reserve at the inputted year of retirement.

Survivor Benefits Program Assumptions:

• The app calculates the base SBP and RC-SBP premiums.
• There is a minimum base amount of $300 for SBP. If the selected coverage level percentage results in a base amount less than $300 of your retirement pay, $300 will be used.
• The calculation is based on coverage for a spouse (not a child or spouse & child).

Please note that this app currently does not calculate potential benefits under the Blended Retirement System (BRS).
